Honoring Tigger: Supporting Best Friends Animal Society

jiggyflyjoe's dearly departed gray tabby cat Tigger.

On July 7th, 2026, we sadly had to say goodbye to my eldest cat Tigger. Considered the “king of our kingdom,” Tigger was very beloved in our home and in the homes of many others who had seen photos, videos, and other media of him as well as those who had met him in person. Always the most chill of felines, his favorite thing to do was to snuggle up to my Dad in his recliner and be pet, brushed, or just catch some quick zzz's before the younger kitties caught up to him. He was my first cat, the first pet that I had ever truly adopted as my own, and the one who made me remember how much I loved animals. My fondness for cats, in particular, was ignited thanks to him.

His warm presence is truly missed in our home. It's caused me to want to do something special to honor him. That's why I decided to start raising money for the Best Friends Animal Society. Best Friends is a leading animal welfare organization dedicated to saving the lives of dogs, cats, and so many other types of pets and animals that find themselves in America's shelters. Their mission is to get the entire country no-kill. I adopted Tigger himself, back in 2013, from a shelter back in Indianapolis, where we are originally from. It seems only right for me to try and do what I can to help homeless pets as much as possible in his name. My entire life, whenever I've mentioned that I wish I could adopt every animal in the shelter, I've often been told, “You can't save them all.” But with the help of Best Friends, we can certainly try.

I know that times are financially difficult for everyone right now. Please take care of yourselves first, always. But if you happen to have some spare change and are feeling generous, please donate whatever you can to this Tiltify link where I've set up our campaign. Our initial goal is only $200 since my social reach is admittedly very small. If we happen to exceed that goal, however, then that's all the better.

Thank you for reading. This one's for you, Tiggy Boo. Love you forever.
